Cardiovascular Research Programs
Centennial Heart has become a proven leader in Cardiovascular Research with many
companies to include a research partnership with Sarah Cannon Research Institute.
In addition, to all of the physicians actively managing multiple studies with SCRI,
two of Centennial Heart's clinical physicians also hold Directorships. Dr. Steve Manoukian is
the Director of Cardiovascular Research and Dr. Chris Jones is the Director of Electrophysiology
Research.
Dr. Manoukian is active in interventional research, particularly regarding the efficacy
and safety of antithrombin and antiplatelet therapy (myocardial infarction, acute
coronary syndromes, and percutaneous coronary intervention). A primary area of his
interest relates to improving outcomes by minimizing the risk of bleeding in these
scenarios through a better understanding of the patient, procedural, and treatment
factors which are associated with bleeding complications. These include anemia,
transfusion, age, chronic kidney disease, gender, vascular complications and access,
and differences between pharmacologic agents, etc. He has served on the leadership
committees of numerous trials.
Dr. Jones completed an electrophysiology fellowship at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN under the tutelage of Dr. Eric Prystowsky. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty board of Cardiovascular Diseases and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
Dr. Jones' cardiac electrophysiology expertise includes evaluation of syncope and palpitations, medical management of arrhythmias, device implantation and follow-up, and catheter ablation of tachy-arrhythmias.
